Habitat Challenge FAQ

What is the Habitat Challenge?

This September, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a new and exciting fundraising event in partnership with Over the Edge, an organization that partners with non-profits to raise funds through rappelling events. Participants sign up to secure a rappelling spot and assemble a team to help them raise money. The first 70 participants to raise a minimum of $1000 get to rappel 26 stories from the roof of the Hotel Murano on September 30th.

Why are we doing the Habitat Challenge?

This unique fundraiser will raise awareness about the need for affordable housing in Pierce County. Donations at the 2016 Habitat Challenge will help us build 16 new homes in partnership with low-income families in the next fiscal year. Our goal is to raise $100,000 with this event.

If the event isn’t until September 30th, why sign up now?

Participants must donate at least $1000 in order to rappel, so we recommend starting fundraising efforts now in order to have plenty of time to spread the word. By starting early you can get more people to join your team and donate towards your fundraising goal. Additionally, we expect that rappelling spots for this event will fill up, so sign up now to secure your place in this thrilling fundraiser!

How should I start fundraising?

You don’t need to do it alone! Invite friends, family and co-workers to help you reach your fundraising goal. Once you register, you will have your own personal fundraising page that will make collecting donations easy. We encourage participants to share their pages on social media frequently to spread awareness and raise money.

Twists to The Challenge
