Pierce County Catholic Deanery Joins Together in House Sponsorship

The Pierce County Catholic Deanery, which consists of 25 parishes in the Tacoma area, has joined in partnership with Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity to sponsor a house at The Woods at Golden Given, our innovative and sustainable 30-home development in the Pierce County community.
The deanery, the largest in the state of Washington, is sponsoring the home in honor of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy that was declared by Pope Francis. The Jubilee of Mercy began on December 8, 2015.
“Since the Pope took the name of Saint Francis, we are hoping to dedicate the house on the Feast Day of Saint Francis,” said Dan Fannin, who has been coordinating the house sponsorship with the Deanery.
“Our goal is to complete the house by the end of the Jubilee Year, and we’re hoping that at the end we’ll have an electronic scrapbook that we can send to Pope Francis through the Seattle Archdiocese,” he said.
We look forward to working with the members of Tacoma’s Catholic parishes on this special project!
